Sapulpa Public Schools School NurseQualifications:Bachelors or Associates degree (Bachelors preferred) with current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma and certified with the Oklahoma State Department of Education.Job Detials:To organize and administer a health service that provides the best educational opportunity and encourages positive health choices for each student. This service will minimize absences due to illness and create a climate of health and well being in the schools. Specific Job Expectations:Oversees immunization and health records in each school. Interprets and reports state requirements for immunizations.Coordinates health screenings and prevention education as needed or when required following established standards of care and resources such as CDC, AAP, NASN, Oklahoma State Department of Education and Department of Health. Communicates with parents and health providers as needed regarding students with medical conditions or health concerns. The nurse coordinates written health plans and is part of the multidisciplinary team that meets with teachers and other staff as needed including IEP and 504 plans.Promotes healthy behaviors in students, staff and their families through education, prevention and referral resources when appropriate.Prevents communicable disease by following standards of practice and communicating with school staff and parents when appropriate following county and state recommendations for followup.Assesses student illness and injury when available and communicates with staff and parent or guardian as to recommendations when referral or exclusion from school is needed according to school policy.Participates with other staff in developing and implementing wellness and safety policies. Coordinates staff training and delegation of medical procedures when needed.
