For over thirty years, the MFT program has focused on training both MFT and medical students to fulfill MUSM's mission of preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and underserved Georgia residents. The MFT Program seeks to transform students into competent, compassionate and ethical professionals who work collaboratively to meet the needs of individuals, couples, families and communities. Emphasizing interactive and problem-based teaching strategies, our student-centered faculty provides a conceptual and practical foundation that equips graduates to be discerning consumers and innovative producers of knowledge across a variety of medical and other clinical settings, as well as academic institutions. This foundation prepares clinicians to articulate and utilize a wide variety of philosophical perspectives, theoretical orientations, and clinical modalities, all with inclusion of diverse contextual factors and social experiences that impact therapist and client systems, as well as institutions and communities in which they participate. Through scholarship and clinical outreach, students and faculty work closely to have local, regional, national, and international impact.The MFT Program is administered on three campuses - Macon, Atlanta, and Savannah. The Macon program is located in the heart of downtown Macon near Atrium Health Navicent, a Level I Trauma Center serving 28 counties in middle Georgia. The Atlanta program is located just inside the Atlanta Perimeter on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus of Mercer University, and the Savannah program is located at the Gateway Behavioral Health Services facility near the Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia.Responsibilities of the position are:* to teach MFT courses.* to serve as a clinical supervisor to MFT students.* to contribute to the day to day functioning of the Mercer Family Therapy Center.* to contribute to governance of the Mercer MFT program by participating in regular faculty meetings, student admissions decisions, curriculum reviews, clinical evaluations of students, and/or special committees as needed (i.e., faculty/staff hiring interviews).* to engage in one or more of the four types of scholarship: (A) investigative research (including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods and program evaluation), (B) interdisciplinary integration, (C) application of theory/research/practice feedback loop, and/or (D) transformation of teaching practices.* to serve as a student-centered academic and professional development advisor and mentor to students.* to serve as a role model for professional development through his or her active participation in MFT and/or interdisciplinary professional organizations.* to serve as a role-model for interdisciplinary collaborative partnerships through service to the university and community.Candidates must:* be a graduate of a doctoral program in marriage and family therapy or a closely related field (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology)* be an AAMFT Approved Supervisor or eligibleThe ideal candidate will:* be licensed or license eligible in the state of Georgia as a marriage and family therapist* have clinical experience with a variety of client populations* have experience with MFT educationRank will be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate.*Background Check Contingencies:* Criminal HistoryRequired Document Attachments:* CV* Cover letter* List of three professional references with contact informationScheduled Weekly Hours:40Job Family:Faculty MedicineEEO Statement:AA/EEO/Veteran/DisabilityMercer University recognizes the power of a diverse community and encourages applications from individuals with varied experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds.
