Position Overview: We are seeking an Optometry Intern to work with our Optical Product team. Reporting to a member of the Optical Product Team (consisting of Optometrists, Opticians, and Industry Executives/Leaders), the Optometry Intern will provide in-house clinical and optical assistance in frame and lens technology projects. The primary responsibility will be assisting with content creation for Zenni website blogs and Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. We are looking for an individual that will be able to work 30-40 hours per week for the next 6 months. There is a preference for a local candidate to the San Francisco Bay Area but we will consider remote candidates. What We Want You to Own in This Role + Act in supporting role to the Optical Product Team, while providing requested assistance to the adjacent Product Marketing and Product Buying & Planning teams + Assist with AI generated content creation/curation: a minimum of 20 per week of optical/industry related articles/blogs + Create content for social media such as Instagram, TikTok, Youtube, and LinkedIn + Assist with running clinical trials on eyewear products such as frames and lens + Serve in cross-functional role interfacing with multiple departments, including Product, Marketing, Design/UX-UI, Customer Service, Site, and Engineering + Maintain and organize the Zenni showroom and other product areas + Test and survey new products, gathering data and providing feedback + Create web pages, blogs, and other educational customer-facing content + Provide content strategies for new optical technology product campaigns + Attend meetings and educational seminar series on engaging topics + Create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets on assigned topics + Perform clerical and administrative tasks as assigned + Provide voice of eye care professional / patients in internal and external meetings + Assist with internal employee education through trainings or project assistance + Act as an advocate for patients, optometry, industry, and e-commerce + Assist in organizational and data-oriented tasks for internal projects + Host selected office visitors in showcasing our product lines + Help select and coordinate eyeglasses for a variety of needs including Influencers, VIPs, events, and more + Potential travel to sites around the Bay Area to help with Zenni events, photoshoots, or company initiatives + Assist in website functionality improvements + Devise a capstone project at the culmination of the internships Basic Requirements + Currently pursuing an O.D. degree/graduated + Have completed at least 1 year of optometry school education at time of internship start + Demonstrated superior written communication skills + Some experience with patients in optical and clinical settings + Understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion + 1+ years of experience with Canva + Experience with Optical Products such as glasses, frames and lenses Preferred Requirements + Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on assignments and projects + Attention to detail and good organizational skills + Desire to learn about lens and frame materials, technologies, and products + Ability to share fresh and creative analytical thinking to assist with problem solving + Strong interest in technology and the intersection with clinical aspects + Desire to work with variety of departmental teams to achieve common goals + Ability to come on-site in Novato, CA 1-2x per week + 1+ years of experience with WordPress + Experience with ChatGPT or AI content creation tools Benefits + Competitive pay + A great career trajectory in a stable, successful growing company. + Cutting edge projects with opportunities for growth and professional development + Annual Zenni Gift Card + Great Work Life Balance As of 01/01/2023, the expected annual compensation range for this position is $30-40 /hr. Actual pay within this range will be based upon several factors, including without limitation education, work experience, certifications, geographic pay differentials, market conditions, and other business and organizational needs.
