Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Based on physician diagnosis, nutritional assessment, and patients' learning needs, plans nutritional
care and counsels outpatients and families on nutritional requirements and methods of meal planning.

2. Presents nutrition education programs for the community in support of department/hospital goals and
mission statement and in accordance with various community health initiatives.

3. Serves as nutritional consultant to the health care team, support groups, and other hospital services, (ie,
Group Weight loss Programs, Experincein the Oncology Field, Cardiac Rehab, Visiting Nurse, etc)

Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS :
A. Education:
1. Mimimum of B.S. Degree in Nutrition or related field.
2. Registered Dietitian/ Nutritionist
3. PA Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist
4. Certified Diabetes Educator, preferred

B . Experience: Two years in the field of clinical dietetics required or one year of similar outpatient experience.

C. Other Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and courteously with patients, family, visitors and members of the health care team. Needs to work in a self directed manner. Ability to concentrate on very technical work with high level of accuracy.
Effective presentation skills.
Ability to counsel and educate diverse groups of people.

D. Age Specific Competency- Requires the demonstrated knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of patients served. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.
