This is a key leadership position in one of the company's eight Regions, with Medical Directors or Associate Medical Directors and Quality Assurance managers reporting to it from other spoke laboratories in the Region, as necessary and appropriate. Positionis located inthe Hub laboratory in each Region: Cambridge, MA; Teterboro, NJ; Atlanta, GA; Tampa, FL; Kansas City, MO; Dallas, TX; West Hills, CA; and Chicago, IL. Twenty to forty percent travel is required, mainly within the assigned Region. The position reports to the Chief Laboratory Officer, with a dotted line relationship to the Regional Vice President, Operations.
This position oversees the quality of laboratory testing of the assignedRegionallaboratories and represents the laboratories with its customers and the medical community. The Regional Medical Director provides consultations aboutMedicalsignificance, Interpretation and Correlation of Data to contribute toward Patient Care (diagnosis and patient management). The Regional Medical Director is responsible for providing medical direction,consultationand guidance to all levels of the medical and laboratory staff and interacts effectively withaccrediting/regulatory agencies, administrative officials, the medical device industry and patients.

The Regional Medical Director coordinates all medically related activities within the assigned Region and acts as a liaison to the Regional Medical Directors in other regions and the Quest Diagnostics Medical Community as a whole. Working in concert with the other Regional Medical Directors, this position recommends process improvements and best practices in areas of assigned responsibility.

The Regional Medical Director leverages local and community involvement in the Hub laboratory as a source of competitive advantage by proactively engaging with clients, partnering with Sales/Operations to market Quest Diagnostics and regularly interacting with and visiting clients to educate and promote our services and ensure client retention and continuous business growth. The Regional Medical Director ensures that other Medical Directors or Associate Medical Directors assigned to the Region do the same.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required WorkExperience:

A significant background and experience in Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Management is required.

Proven industry executive with a minimum of 8-10 years post fellowship experience as a Clinical Pathologist with progressiveleadership including 3-5 years minimum experience at an Associate Professor/Director level or above, managing other pathologists. Must have experience and superior knowledge in both Clinical Pathology and Anatomical Pathologydisciplines, andhave the ability to interact with outside physicians in both arenas. Experience in an independent clinical laboratory is ideal.

Exceptional leadership skills, interpersonal skills, oral and written communicationsskillsand the ability to be influential both internally and externally are required, as is the ability to develop relationships and influence key stakeholders who impact the business.

Passion for our business and clients. Strength in responding to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatoryagenciesor members of the business community.

Must have experience in managing a departmental Profit and Loss budget.
