The xito Parent Ambassador is part of the Children and Youth Services (CYS) Department in the Education and Workforce Services (EWS) Division and works under the Innovation Team in Congresos Administration Division. The xito Parent Ambassador will work on Congresos new xito K-3 Literacy Project supporting the incoming 2023/2024 Kindergarten cohorts at Julia de Burgos Elementary School (JDB) and Pan American Academy Charter School (PAACS). The xito K-3 Literacy Project supports elementary school students and their families by providing targeted literacy interventions and helping them address challenges in their lives that may limit on-time grade promotion and academic success. The xito Parent Ambassador role will be part of a project team that works to ensure the cohort is reading on grade level by the time they reach the 4th grade.

The xito Parent Ambassador is responsible for playing a vital role in building positive relationships with parents, families, and the community. The Parent Ambassador will serve as a bridge between Congreso de Latinos Unidos and the families of the 2023/2024 kindergarten cohort by promoting engagement, communication, and a sense of belonging. Your primary responsibility will be to represent our organization and advocate for the needs and concerns of parents and families while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

This position reports to the Innovation Manager. This is a HYBRID position.

The xito Parent Ambassadorapplies the principles of the organizations signature service delivery approach, Primary Client Model (PCM), by promoting a positive employee/client-focused experience that is appreciative of the unique strengths, values and needs that each individual brings; and by using data to inform and drive decision making. Attention is given to compliance, quality assurance, and best practices as they relate to the role.

  • Represents Congresos mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and will be an ambassador of our work.
  • Act as a liaison between the Congreso, the school, and parents/Families, establishing open lines of communication.
  • Encourage active participation in school or community events, meetings, and activities.
  • Organize and promote parent workshops, information sessions, and support groups.
  • Advocate for the interests, concerns, and needs of parents within the organization.
  • Collect and relay feedback, suggestions, and concerns from parents to appropriate staff or leadership.
  • Promote parental involvement in decision-making processes.
  • Foster a sense of community among parents and families by organizing social events and gatherings.
  • Encourage networking and the exchange of ideas and resources among parents.
  • Provide information, resources, and referrals to parents on various topics, including education, health, and community services.
  • Assist parents in accessing relevant support services and resources.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents through newsletters, emails, and social media.
  • Collaborate with the organization's communication team to ensure effective dissemination of information to parents.
  • Work closely with teachers, school administrators, and staff to promote a harmonious partnership between parents and educational institutions.
  • Collaborate with other Parent Ambassadors to share best practices and enhance the impact of the program.
All Staff Competencies
  • Basic understanding of Congresos mission, values, DEI&B vision, Mission2Impact, Primary Client Model, programs, and services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the community needs and demographics.
  • Ability to understand, acknowledge, and assess client needs to provide a timely, trauma informed approach in service.
  • Ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information and understanding for issues such as confidentiality, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mandated reporter requirements.
  • Adheres to all Congreso, departmental, programmatic, and security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Attends all Congreso trainings and in-services as required, including relevant professional groups to maintain professional, requisite knowledge and licensure.
  • Attends, participates, and facilitates relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office equipment, including a variety of common software programs such as Office365, UNIDAD, and other customized databases.
  • Follows through on assignments, works in a timely manner, within established deadlines, and completes special projects specific to the function of the department, as needed or as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups, in a compassionate, courteous, and respectful manner that fosters an inclusive environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including effective and respectful communication with individuals and groups.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) written and verbal skills is required.


Minimum Education:

High school diploma or GED/HISET is a plus.

Minimum Experience:

No Minimum but a interest to interact with the school and community members is a plus
