CarolinaEast offers a comprehensive benefits package to all full time employees as well as benefits to part time plus and part time employees.Job Summary: The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) will provide direct care, education, and serve as a consultant for people with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems and any patient who has a wound or potential skin care problem. She will provide these services in the following settings: acute care, rehabilitation, and home care. The WOCN also serves as a patient advocate. The ultimate goal is to maximize the patient's return to an optimal level of functioning. The WOCN may obtain additional certification as a Certified Foot Care Nurse (CFCN) in order to perform specialized foot and nail care in addition to the duties as a WOCN.Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an approved school of nursing (BSN required) with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Two years of clinical experience in acute care nursing. Demonstrates effective patient and staff education skills. Graduate of an accredited WOCN Education Program. Current Board Certification in WOCN. Current Board Certification as CFCN if functioning in that role. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the nursing unit(s). The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
