We are seeking an HSE Technician to join the Plastics HSE team. The HSE Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the protection of people and the protection of the environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports HSE department by, maintaining, correcting, and revising all health, safety and environmental procedures and plans for the site.
  • This includes OSHA, IOSHA, IDEM, EPA, NFPA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Complete audits and inspections on various equipment, grounds, PPE, etc.
  • Provide and/or facilitate HSE training as needed, specifically focused on skill based and new hire.
  • Enter HSE data/corrective actions. Near Miss, audits, inspection, etc.
  • Maintain SDS for all areas.
  • Perform Site Level and area Risk Assessments (aka JHA) to identify hazards and implement corrective actions & controls.
  • Support MOC, PSM, all permitting (Safe Work Permit, CSE, etc.).
  • Support daily standup meetings.
  • Deploy HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) initiatives in support of a Zero Incident Culture.
  • Maintain electronic HSE systems.
  • Support the HSE Committee and serve as a member of various site teams.
  • Performs related administrative responsibilities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to influence without authority.
Requirements
  • 4+ years experience working in Health, Safety and Environmental programs.
  • Must be proficient with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong oral and written communications, including the ability to effectively present to both large and small groups.
  • Ability to problem solve and lead by example.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Previous HSE Compliance experience dealing with high hazards sites preferred.
  • Experience managing various permit types preferred.
  • Oil and gas and/or chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) preferred.
