The EKG Tech delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders in the EKG lab, admissions unit, and specified areas.The EKG Tech provides quality customer service. This position ensures patients, families, visitors, referring clinicians and fellow employees are treated courteously, quickly and with respect while performing job duties of EKG Technician.The EKG Tech provides indirect patient care activities including maintaining a clean safe environment and ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment. The position maintains the MUSE system and accurately enters charges in HIS.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current AHA BLS Certification Experience REQUIRED: 1 year acute care and/or medical office experience 1 year experience with EKG testing to include: recognizing basic cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias; ability to move and operate hospital EKG equipment Experience PREFERRED: 1 year acute care and/or medical office experience Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent Education/training PREFERRED: Associates Degree in Health Sciences or related field from an accredited program Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of designated staff in providing patient care, emotional support and problem solving all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor on time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard and identification of educational resources to meet developmental goals. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: May work day and evening shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Supervisor and/or Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or as is in the best interest of the work unit. Age Specific groups served: All Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical: Lifting 50-100 lbs. Other: moving of patients on and off tables and stretchers. Transporting patients within the hospital environment. Pulling and pushing. Activities: Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking Emotional: Steady pace, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Able to adapt to frequent changeEEO Employer/Disabled/Protected Veteran/41 CFR 60-1.4.
