Monday thru Friday, 7am -7pm, Saturdays 8-4pm as needed

A Brief Overview

Performs patient care duties that are related to carrying out the multidisciplinary care for each pediatric patient. Provides basic, age appropriate nursing care to patients under direct supervision of the RN. Creates a safe therapeutic environment for the patient's well being.

Essential Functions

  • Provides basic, age appropriate nursing care to patients, and performs or assists With area test and patient care procedures under direct supervision of the RN. Effectively provides service to patients and families with consideration of the individuals age, nutritional and medical status, developmental and cognitive levels. Completes delegated tasks such as vital signs, pain and risk assessment s in accordance with clinic standards, hospital policies and procedures. Communicates completion of tasks and significant abnormalities or clinical changes back to the RN. Identifies goals with the patient and family whenever possible to ensure quality care. Plans realistic measures that are attainable and communicates these to RN. Provides education to patient/family in Family support groups. Maintains clean patient environment in accordance with infection control policies.

  • Collects assessment data with the input of the patient/family as directed by the RN and communicates changes appropriately. Collects ongoing assessment data such as vital signs, measurements, pain, risk assessment, family interaction per area standards. Collects data and monitors eating disorder behaviors at being a positive role model. Assists collecting research data.

  • Documents care given according to Children's Hospital policies and procedures. Documents care given on patient records consistently and accurately. Completes documentation in a timely manner

  • Performs clerical and clinic support to include entering medical orders into the Computers, ordering and stocking supplies, exam room preparation and clean-up. Maintains/files interdiscipl9inary reports in the charts. Takes inventory of supplies, Stocks clinic exam supplies

  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, human services, or related field Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Experience in behavioral health setting Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the pediatric/psychiatric patient care

  • Communication skills relating to families and patients in crisis

  • Strong verbal, teaching and problem solving skills

  • Willingness to acquire knowledge of Eating Disorders, assessments and treatment.


Licenses and Certifications

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required
