The Diet Technician's role is to assist the Director of Food Services in assessing individual nutritional needs, implementing nutritional prescriptions, and providing feedback on acceptance and tolerance of nutrition therapy. Functions of this position include, collecting, calculating, and recording medical record nutrient intakes as necessary, weekly meal rounds, resident visits on a daily basis, distribution, retrieval of residents' selective menus. Responsibilities include:
Update diets/food preferences in computer system
Keep Food Service Director informed of changes in resident status, diet, or nutritional problems
Update seating charts in the dining room
Attend weekly weight meeting
Complete MDS in computer
Complete nutritional assessments, annually, and quarterly
Assist with tray tickets as needed
Monitor temps of food with test trays
Attend menu committee and complete minutes
Attend care plan meetings
Preform daily clerical duties in relation to menus
Participate in and reinforce patient education and quality assurance monitoring
Qualifications:
Appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of an education.
Long Term Care experience preferred
Knowledge of State and Federal guidelines
Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships, organizational skills, and strong computer skills a must
