Required Experience & Competency

This individual will be responsible for the histology preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic analysis by a pathologist in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and work alongside management to drive business needs and develop/assistant with new methods. Work hours: Mon-Fri 7 AM - 3:30 PM

Responsibilities
Trim, process, embed and section tissue samples
Stain slides with routine and special stains
Works closely with Management and the Necropsy and Pathology teams
Assess the day-to-day workflow to meet study on time delivery and expected turnaround times
Some interaction with clients
Helps Management with updating and periodic review of standard operating procedures
Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required
Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments
Ability to work in a team environment and independently, as required
May be involved in process and/or equipment qualifications
May be required to work Holidays and weekends
May be required to work overtime Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals
Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Coordinate and assist in training activities for other Histology staff
Assist other histo-technicians with troubleshooting
Strong independent time management skills
Minimal deviations and specimen rework
Other duties as assigned and may be required to assist in other departments

Education
HT or HTL certification
Minimum of 7-8 years of experience
Good Laboratory Practices/Good Manufacturing Practices/Good Documentation Practices experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficient communication skills
Demonstrate consistent productivity and meet deadlines
Ability to consistently follow instructions/Standard Operating Procedures
Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
Need to be able to read, write and understand English
Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to animals/biohazards/chemical
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Must be able to work in environment with minimal noise levels
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Clarity of vision and Ability to identify and distinguish colors
Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
Ability to lift 25 lbs. routinely/often/occasionally
Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach
Ability to push/pull 25 lbs. routinely/often occasionally
Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing
Inside working conditions and Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility
