Responsibilities:
This position is for a medical oncologist/hematologist with clinical and research focus as a generalist who will lead the new Foley location and also assist with Fairhope clinic at the University of South Alabama/Mitchell Cancer Institute. Must be board certified or board eligible in medical oncology and have an interest in being a generalist. The physician will be on the faculty of the University of South Alabama at the level matching their background experience. The candidate, with assistance of the MCI administration, must obtain an Alabama medical license, privileges at local hospitals, and be credentialed with insurance entities. The duties include:

1. Clinics in medical oncology with subspecialty emphasis in all cancer four
days/week. Will be expected to meet productivity and quality metrics.
2. Be committed to providing multi-disciplinary approach to provision of
patient care.
3. Participation in on-call both on the University Teaching service and other
community hospitals with MCI patients/consults. This will be approximately 1:8 days and weekends.
4. Teaching fellows, residents, medical students as part of the
hematology/oncology faculty to include grand rounds and continuity clinics.
5. Developing clinical or translational research interests related to multiple
cancers as a generalist.
6. Attending and participating in tumor boards specific to generalist
oncology patients. Also to attend/participate tumor boards for other
specialties at MCI.
7. Performing outreach to community surgeons, internists, and laypersons in order to develop relationships that will generate referrals. Will work with business development liaison to create a referral strategy. Willing to make presentations and grow a new practice.
8. Support the mission of University Hospital/USA and Mitchell Cancer
Institute.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Must be board certified or board eligible in medical oncology and have an interest in being a generalist in oncology.
