Job Summary: Makes rounds on all respiratory devices in use. Performs patient education with the administration of medications and other therapy modalities. Completes documentation of all procedures within patient chart. Sets up adult and pediatric ventilators and checks required parameters. Performs pulse oximetry for adult and pediatric patients. Performs bedside pulmonary functions. Helps collect data for performance improvement. Orders and maintains supplies. Performs both adult and infant EKG's. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to all age groups served within the department. Performs smoking cessation counseling and asthma education. Performs breath alcohol testing, ABGs, and cardiac monitor application.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications
  • Current Indiana Respiratory Care Practitioner License, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential
  • BLS within 7 days of hire & ALS certification within 30 days of hire, required
  • Current PALS Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire, required
  • Current NRP certification or obtain within 90 days of hire, required
  • Current STABLE Certification or obtain within 6 months of hire, required
  • Current Breath Alcohol Technician Certification or obtain within 90 days of hire, required
  • Graduate of an accredited two year certification program in Respiratory Therapy, required
