Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.

Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.

Spirit Maine is seeking a Material Handler to join our Supply Chain team You will be accountable for supporting the production facilities, material deliveries, shipping/receiving, interfacility transporting, and Hazmat movement throughout an extensive multi-building campus. Your schedule as the Material Handler position is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

_ Job_ ** Responsibilities** :

  • Load/unload trucks with forklift or pallet jack
  • Verify shipping label, packing list and/or CoC
  • Deliver material to appropriate department or warehouse storage location
  • Coordinate deliveries between departments and locations as needed
  • Maintain housekeeping efforts in material storage areas throughout the facility
  • Assist in cycle counts and inventory control projects
  • Engages with other departments, vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
  • Provides additional backup support for shipping and receiving coordinators Clean driving record – this position requires use of company box truck

_ What we need from you:_

  • 2 Year College Degree or equivalent experience in related field (Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Engineering) is preferred
  • 5+ years experience operating a forklift
  • Hazmat Transportation Certification (preferred) or ability to obtain
  • Understanding of supply chain concepts (PO’s, shop floor travelers)
  • Ability to lift items and containers
  • Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Some data entry experience desired
  • Eligibility or interest in obtaining CDL is a plus
