Pathology Technician Roles and Responsibilities: Coordinates and handles the sending and receiving of patient samples, including tracking thereof. Functions as liaison for the department, answering calls/inquiries from external and internal clinicians. Typing of Pathology reports (proofs, preliminary, synoptic, and final) daily. Transcribing Pathology gross descriptions. Registering patient specimens (surgical and cytology). Accessioning Pathology and Cytology specimens. Picking up of specimens from other departments. Performing the gross descriptions of small surgical specimens. Processing Cytology specimens. Pulls/prepares slides for tumor board presentation. Special projects as assigned. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed. Maintains working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and practices. Accurate and timely typing/transcribing of reports. Complies with the hospitals performance standards relating to service excellence and culture of safety. Preferred Bachelor's degree in a health science or related field preferred.
