Responsibilities:

The pharmacy technician under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmacy services to special populations including
neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and young adults. The pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations functions in compliance with department and
hospital policies and procedures, to provide optimal pharmaceutical care. The pharmacy technician under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist is
responsible for the preparation, dispensing, distribution, and delivery of medications including non-sterile products and sterile products.

? National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required upon hire or within the first
6 months of employment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Responsibilities
? Accurately prepares, labels, and delivers patient specific medications for dispensing in a timely manner based on information contained on labels
generated from orders in the computerized pharmacy system.
? Accurately prepares, labels, and delivers floor stock medications, including controlled substances, complying with established policies and
procedures to assure proper control and documentation.
? Accurately prepares sterile products including IV chemotherapeutic agents for dispensing in a timely manner including but not limited to, securing
proper medications for admixture, calculating, and recording accurate volumes, accurately reading labels, and arranging ingredients for double
checking.
? Adheres to all guidelines and quality measures for compliance with the handling and preparation of sterile products, in accordance with established
policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
? Responds in a timely manner to meet the standards established for all STAT medication requests.
? Accurately replaces stock and supplies to the automated dispensing machines according to established policies and procedures, monitoring stock for
expiration date, integrity, and labeling appropriateness.
? Complies with all labeling requirements for dispensing as established by pharmacy policies and procedures as well as all legal and regulatory
requirements.
? Accurately retrieves and reviews inventory and returned medications, assessing expiration date, product integrity and labeling appropriateness prior
to placing in stock.
? Completes monthly drug storage reviews to ensure hospital drug inventory integrity as assigned.
? Accurately utilizes and maintains the medication packaging equipment in the pharmacy according to established policies and procedures.
? Communicates all appropriate information to promote the highest quality of pharmacy services and ensures that drug inventory needs are
communicated in an accurate and timely manner utilizing established methods.
? All other duties as assigned.
