Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: USA MEDICAL DEPT, KAHC, CLINICAL SPT BR Responsibilities As a licensed paramedic, you will perform the following: Respond both off- and on-site to all types of emergencies, and sometimes encounter situations that are life threatening. Upon arrival at the scene, you will make an independent preliminary assessment as to the scene’s safety and the patient's status. Conducting both a complete site survey for hazardous conditions and a physical examination of the patient in order to identify the nature, extent, and seriousness of the patient's condition. Based on this preliminary assessment, you will independently make choices as to how best to provide stabilizing medical interventions prescribed in protocols and, if necessary, make modifications to these protocols within prescribed limits. As a licensed paramedic, you will perform pulmonary resuscitation if breathing fails to start spontaneously upon the opening of the airway, using such techniques as mouth-to-mouth, mouth to nose, etc. You will also administer medications as needed, as well as recognize and determine the causes and basic medical implications of closed and open soft tissue wounds. You must exercise extreme care when examining, administering emergency care, and transporting the victim to prevent further discomfort, injury, or death. You must exercise control and direction over fire suppression personnel in the application of basic emergency medical procedures and treatment protocols. Independently gather as much information as possible about the victim, the cause, and effects of the illness/injury in a short time in order to quickly initiate medical treatment. You will also operate emergency vehicles in a variety of environmental and traffic conditions in emergency sites while independently taking into consideration traffic patterns, environmental factors, hospital location and status, and road conditions. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: 1) conducting or assisting with the training of both departmental and civilian personnel in CPR, basic, and advanced emergency medical care techniques on an "as-needed" basis; 2)recognizing and determining the causes and medical implication of various medical emergencies and illnesses; 3) recognizing when treatment of an injury or illness requires the administration of a pharmaceutical and selecting the correct medication for the appropriate treatment regime as outlined in protocols or by physician direction Selective Placement Factors: 1. Must possess and maintain a National Registry Paramedic Certification. 2. Must possess and maintain a Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. 3. Must possess and maintain an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification. 4. Must possess and maintain a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One-year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
