Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.Reports test results in a timely manner and according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control and reports discrepancies to the Director of Laboratory.Performs daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed, maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate.Performs calibration of equipment as required.Troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimen's when problems occur. Notifies the Director of Laboratory if unable to solve the problem.Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety procedures. When handling blood and/or body fluids, universal precaution procedures will be followed in order to minimize exposure to infectious diseases. Safety policies and procedures will be followed when using chemicals.Performs phlebotomy (venipunctures, finger sticks, bleeding times) as appropriate for the patient requiring this procedure.Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform other duties as assignedProfessional Requirements:Complete annual education requirements.Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.Report to work on time and as scheduled.Wear identification while on duty.Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.Comply with all organizational policies.Conduct oneself as a professional in accordance with PRIDE values.Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.Job Requirements:Associate's degree in a relevant science preferred.MLT (ASCP) or equivalent registration or has completed a technician training program in a school accredited/approved by HHS, or MLT eligible under Medicare laboratory regulations.Four months' clinical laboratory internship preferredOrganizational/Core Competencies:Exceed QualityExceed Customer ExpectationsGrow Team MembersIncrease Market ShareExceed Budget ExpectationStrengthen, Build, and Leverage Community Relationships
