Radiologic Technologist (X-ray Tech) Diagnostic Imaging Per Diem | Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the radiologist and/or DI Administration, the Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Tech), performs professional duties. which involve a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assist physicians in selection of practical application and technical factors. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES for the Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Tech): Perform a variety of radiographic, mammographic, and fluoroscopic exams with mobile and stationary equipment as approved. Set, adjust, manipulate, control and maintain a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis of disease using proper KVP, MA, exposure time and focal film distance. Practice radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factor, to minimize radiation to patient,staff and self. Explain the procedure to the patient. Instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for exam. Assist physicians in administering prescribed contrast media. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Completion of a 2 year approved Radiological Technology Program required. Current license in the State of Connecticut required. Registered, or registry eligible, with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists required. Maintenance of appropriate CEU's to meet ARRT guidelines required. CPR - Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification / equivalent within 3 months of hire is required. Approved vein puncture and lab procedures according to the Laboratory policies, if applicable, is preferred. Approved computer registration according to the Admitting policies, if applicable, is preferred. Experience for Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Tech): Minimum of 1 year practical experience performing related duties as a radiographer is preferred.
