CompuNet is looking for a Full Time Histotechnican located at Miami Valley Hospital in the Flow Cytometery Department
Evening Shift (2:30pm-10:30pm)
Evening & Night shift is eligible for 15% shift
differential

Positions Summary:

The histotechnician performs all aspects of routine histology. These include, but are not limited to, specimen and slide preparation, frozen sections and special staining.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Independently perform all routine histology testing in accordance with departmental QC/QA guidelines.
  • Competently uses necessary functions of the AP computer system to generate histology records.
  • Perform all required maintenance on histology instrumentation in accordance with departmental and manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Handle client related questions and concerns in a courteous and efficient manner, following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all company, department and regulatory policies and procedures including compliance and safety protocols.
  • Assist with data entry, preparation and grossing of specimens.
  • Continue professional development through personal study, seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • HT (ASCP) registry or Associates Degree in Health/Science related field and HT (ASCP) registry or eligible.
  • Experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology, keyboarding and PC skills helpful.
Physical demands and work environment:
  • Excellent manual/visual coordination.
  • Possible exposure to chemical and biological hazards.
  • Sound reasoning and judgment skills.
  • Positive interactions with internal/external clients.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Safety demands and requirements:
  • Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals
  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
  • Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
