JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Supports the mission of St Peter’s Hospital and the Pharmacy Department by participating in a post-graduate year one pharmacy residency program. The resident will become competent in management of the pharmacy distribution system in order to work independently in any position within pharmacy. The resident will actively participate in and promote clinical pharmacy activities, become an effective member of the patient care team, educate patients, health care professionals, and pharmacy students, and complete a project promoting pharmacy practice. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: The resident must have graduated from an accredited pharmacy program and received exposure to pharmacy dispensing systems including unit dose, IV admixture systems, and aseptic technique. The resident must have knowledge of drug therapies, treatment of disease states, drug interactions, and the cost benefit of drug therapies. Experience with use of a computer, Microsoft programs, and the internet are required. EDUCATION: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) accredited pharmacy school LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: The resident must be licensed as a registered pharmacist in Montana by September 1st . The resident must not have any restrictions on their license that would inhibit completion of assigned duties such as restrictions on handling or dispensing controlled substances. Aptitudes: *Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and use time wisely. *Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks at the same time. Possession of cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple tasks, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs. Ability to handle these situations in a calm and courteous manner that contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of the pharmacy. Ability to prioritize workload to ensure emergent and stat workload are completed in a timely manner. *Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and creativity in dealing with a variety of workload situations and demands. *Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people with different sociological and educational backgrounds. *Demonstrated interpersonal skills and writing skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians and various other hospital personnel regarding medication use and drug information. *Demonstrated high level of mental acuity and intelligence. *Demonstrated high level of motivation to keep current with drug information and current trends in pharmacy. *Demonstrated analytical skills to determine drug appropriateness and evaluate drug interactions. Ability to collect pertinent clinical data, analyze results, make recommendations and follow-up on recommended actions. *Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement in dealing with complex situations. Provides logical and effective course of action while recognizing limitations of knowledge and experience in response to issues involving pharmaceutical care or pharmacy procedures. 7036.519
