ASSIGNMENT: Audiologist for students ages 3 through 21. Functions include clinically assessing mildly to profoundly hearing impaired students and assessing multiple handicapped and severely to profoundly handicapped students. Anticipated starting date is DATE
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct audiological evaluations to determine whether children can benefit from amplification.
- Make a specific recommendation if new hearing aid is needed.
- Determine need for new ear molds.
- Provide audiogram, which will include unaided and aided puretone scores, SRT, discrimination (earphone, Freefield with and without aid).
- Conduct audiological tests to determine the type (conductive or sensorineural) and degree of hearing loss.
- Make recommendations and plans for improved acoustics in future classrooms.
- Provide in-service training for teachers and staff.
- Conduct parent-teacher education meetings regarding hearing loss, amplification and auditory training.
- Interpret educational, language and speech implications of hearing loss to teachers and parents.
- Calibration of audiometers.
- Provide hearing therapy and aural rehabilitation therapy.
- Court report writing, record keeping, medical referral scheduling.
- Conduct hearing screenings.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- A master's degree in audiology is required.
- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is preferred.
- Valid Washington State ESA certification for communication disorder specialist is required.
- Prefer candidate familiar with sign language.
