Rheumatology Faculty Position

Basic Function Work in collaboration with the Directors of Clinical and Research Operations, and other Divisional and Departmental leadership to advance the clinical, research, and education missions of the Lupus Center, which include: the sustained delivery of high-quality patient care in a collaborative approach that reflects the multi-organ nature of these diseases; development of robust research programs in this arena, including epidemiologic, translational and mechanistic studies, and clinical trials; and delivery of medical education to post-doctoral fellows, residents, interns, and medical students. Essential Job Functions + Furnish complex medical care to adult patients in an outpatient setting at the Johns Hopkins Hospital + Provide medical consultation in an inpatient setting at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (typically 4 weeks per year) + Teach medical students, residents and postdoctoral fellows at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and in the School of Medicine + Seek and actively engage extramural research applications in support of the Center's research missio Additional Responsibilities for the Director of Lupus Translational Research (as it relates to both the University and the Hospitals): + Management and strategic planning for the translational research operations of the Lupus Center in collaboration with the Lupus Center Director + Collaboratively engage in semi-annual goal-setting and strategic planning for the Center's research operations. + Maintain and grow the discovery program in the Center, with a focus on integrating with systems like PMAP to facilitate clinical and laboratory research in SLE. + Develop the Lupus Research Program into a multidisciplinary hub to foster collaboration among physician-scientists from distinct divisions (i.e., Rheumatology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Pathology, etc.) as well as scientists from other disciplines (i.e. School of Engineering) and other academic entities + Communicate changes in research policy, procedures, goals, and objectives in an effective manner to faculty and staff in the practice. + Collaborate with the Division Administrator, Division Director, and other Lupus Center leaders on issues concerning staffing, recruitment, retention, and quality for research functions. + In concert with the Lupus Center Director, ensure all members of the Lupus Center adhere to University, Departmental, and Divisional policies + Establish and guide the strategic direction of the Lupus Center's research operation in conjunction with the Lupus Center Director, the Rheumatology Division Director, and the Division Administrator. + Foster collaboration among physician-scientists from distinct divisions (i.e., Rheumatology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Pathology, etc.) as well as scientists from other disciplines (i.e. School of Engineering) and other academic entities + Participate in annual performance assessments for all research staff within the Lupus Center. + Meet regularly with Division's programmatic leaders to monitor progress towards completion of established goals and objectives as it relates to research. Required Qualifications + A medical degree is required + Board Certification in Rheumatology is required + 3-5 years of experience in Molecular Biology Laboratory + 3-5 years of experience with analysis of Omics datasets + Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
