Summary About the Position: Located at 101ST Airborne Division (Air Assualt) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Responsibilities Serve as the Principal Staff Advisor for the Brigade’s Safety Program (a comprehensive 24-hour a day program), to include serving as the Brigade Commander’s technical advisor/consultant for safety issues. Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager for a Brigade-sized unit with responsibility for planning, managing, and administering a safety and occupational health program. Participates in operations planning group meetings and other course of action sessions to provide technical guidance and assistance to members of the Brigade command group, subordinate commanders, and staff officers for the integration of range safety criteria into mission. Serves as the point of contact for accident information within the unit. Advisor on accident investigation boards to identify and analyze the cause factors, systems defects, command climate, and performance/standards failures. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) Prepares reports based on the safety inspections 2) Conducts investigations to determine findings and recommendations 3) Apply safety and occupational health laws, regulations, practices and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; 4) Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and/or procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; AND 5) Inspect workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards to identify potential new hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection and Program Management Policy Development Safety and Health Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
