Job Summary:
Prepares rough sketches by studying customer specifications; creating a picture of the system, components and/or parts to support sales and marketing; applies standard design practices through the use of welding, machining, manufacturing and assembly drawing symbols, descriptions and call outs; prepares final drawings by studying engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents; develops layouts of the system, sub-systems, and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials; maintains engineering data base by entering data; completing backups; mechanical design of enclosures, test fixtures and detailed electronics packages utilizing SolidWorks modeling software; design components for various fabrication processes including milling, turning, injection molding and sheet metal forming; creating designs with appropriate dimensions, tolerances and part finishes while considering manufacturing technology; generate fabrication and assembly drawings of components and assemblies using ASME Y14.5 standards; reverse engineer complex components and assemblies; contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Detailed Description:
• Develop and design of fabrication and assembly drawings of system components and assemblies
• Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, conferring with engineers, vendors, technicians and clients
• Identify and verify specifications by examining engineering documents, performing calculations
Requirements:
• Associates degree in mechanical design or equivalent technical school training
• Minimum 7 years work experience in computer aided drafting
• 3-D modeling, SolidWorks (preferred)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Experience in mechanical design and layout preferably in specialized packaging solutions
• Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations
• Experience with machine processes, mechanical fabrication, materials and assembly processes a plus
