Job Description Summary: Our Logan Health inpatient hospital pharmacy is looking for a PRN Pharmacist Intern to join their team in Kalispell, Montana. This position assists Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and patient records. All job duties are performed under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist. Qualifications: + Montana Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist Intern license required. + Current enrollment or graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy required. + Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems preferred. + Possess an understanding of medical terminology and calculations preferred. + Possess strong knowledge of medication brand and generic names preferred. + Previous Pharmacy experience preferred. + Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. + Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. + Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. + Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Job Specific Duties: + Manufactures, prepares, compounds, packages and labels pharmaceuticals within a specialized program. These may include, but may not be limited to; IV additive service, oncology medications, and investigational drug service. + Exhibits working knowledge of aseptic technique for preparing sterile products. + Assists Pharmacists in dispensing medications by obtaining Pharmacist verification prior to distributing medications as prescriptions. + Performs patient billing timely and accurately per department protocol. + Accurately delivers narcotics and documents delivery according to procedure. + Assists Pharmacists in ordering and receiving pharmaceuticals. Receives and unpacks medication orders noting discrepancies to invoice. + Assists Pharmacists in monitoring stock for outdated medications and properly disposes in a timely manner. + Effectively uses precautionary measures for blood product derivatives, needles, syringes, chemotherapeutic agents, and/or chemicals. + Exhibits knowledge of new drug products. + Accurately fills patient orders, floor stock, medication carts and/or unit inspections at assigned locations. + Outpatient area: Delivers and counsels patients leaving the inpatient or outpatient departments as part of the “Meds to Beds” program. Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
