GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance imaging device, which includes preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, and performing computer processing and displaying images. Assists in developing protocol for patient studies. Performs quality control procedures on equipment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination. •Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination. Obtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary to ensure a safe procedure for the patient. •Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such linen and related supplies. •Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment and performs the MRI scan. •Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. •Administers contrast and monitors patient for possible reactions as appropriate to the study. •May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure to be performed. •Ensures the adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. •Assists Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: •High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. •Must maintain the required hours of continued education. •Healthcare Provider certification required. (BCLS) •Two (2) years of experience in Radiography is recommended but not mandatory. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: •Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) with the advanced ARRT registry in MRI or registry eligible. •If registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 12 months of date of hire. Failure to obtain registry within the designated time frame will result in termination of the Magnetic Resonance Technologist position.
