POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Provides skilled direct patient care (dialysis) and monitoring of renal dialysis patients. Operates all renal dialysis equipment and recognizes changes in the renal patient's condition while on dialysis. Administers medications and access hemodialysis catheters for the patient care techs as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing is required. One year experience in health care delivery as an LVN is preferred. One year recent experience in dialysis is preferred. LICENSURE Current LVN licensure in the State of Texas is required. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card. Must maintain current CPR certification. OTHER The ability to read, write and speak Spanish is desirable. Acts as a role model whose behavior is reflective of company core values who maintains confidentiality, supports management decisions and implementation of change. Must successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination and the annual screening, each year thereafter, as an employee. Successfully completes or renews required dialysis skills and competency checklist, including required UH and OSHA modules. Successfully completes a dialysis training program that included both classroom and supervised clinical experience (with no dialysis experience). Upholds HIPAA regulations .
