Position Details:

The Medical Records Specialist at MedElite is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's medical records in an efficient and secure manner. This role involves organizing, verifying, and safeguarding patient information to facilitate the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper medical records according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of medical record documentation.
  • Enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system accurately.
  • Assign appropriate codes to diagnoses, treatments, and procedures in compliance with coding standards.
  • Process requests for the release of medical records, adhering to privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to fulfill requests from authorized individuals or entities.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies or inconsistencies in documentation.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure accurate and up-to-date medical record documentation.
  • Provide support in retrieving patient information for clinical and administrative purposes.
  • Stay informed about updates in healthcare recordkeeping practices and technology.
  • Stay current on healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and ensure that medical records practices align with legal standards.
  • Implement and enforce policies and procedures related to medical records management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, additional certification in Health Information Management preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Records Specialist or similar role in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and EHR software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and other relevant compliance standards.

Salary Range: $45k-$50k Annually
