The Role
Tesla's Battery Materials Team is looking for a highly motivated individual to be an Electrician for a novel battery chemical plant near Corpus Christi, TX.As an Electrician, you will interface closely with the Project and Operations teams to execute electrical system commissioning plans while also implementing equipment lifecycle management programs as we transition into the core maintenance & reliability organization post startup. In support of this 24/7 operation, you will be periodically on-call, and may be required to occasionally work nights and weekends. Competitive pay rate selected based on relevant experience; overtime available as driven by business need.

Responsibilities
  • Execute electrical commissioning plans for a variety of equipment across the site, such as motors, breakers, relays, generators, substations, buses, starters, transformers, HRG, and other industrial equipment >480V
  • Validate conformance of all electrical systems pre-commissioning in close collaboration with Project and Engineering Teams
  • Develop LOTO documentation and switching sequence orders/procedures
  • Populate Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) with BoMs and spare parts as directed
  • Troubleshooting motors/VFD's and complex electrical circuits such as switchgear controls
  • Execute preventative maintenance procedures and work practices on equipment such as VFD's/switchgear/motors with voltages ranging from 120-480V and 4160-35kV to ensure the reliability of plant assets post-startup
  • Provide break-in electrical support as needed to resolve electrical equipment issues
Requirements
  • Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strong understanding of electricity fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage this understanding to solve challenging technical problems
  • 3+ years as an Electrician in an industrial manufacturing environment, with experience supporting Operations and Maintenance organizations 5+ years is preferred
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and operating medium voltage equipment, including troubleshooting and repairing medium voltage relays
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA codes and HAZMAT safety protocols
  • Well versed in the National Electrical Code and the International Electrical Testing Association
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours
  • Ability to communicate clearly and interface with multiple engineering disciplines and trade experts
  • Ability to Enforce and follow all Safety rules and regulations
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
