School NurseSUMMARY: The Southern Boone School District has an opening for a School Nurse for the 2024-2025 school year. RN license preferred, but not required; LPN license required. Successful candidates must pass an extensive background check through the Missouri Highway Patrol and the FBI. Candidates will need to possess an active CPR/AED certificate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs nursing duties including administering first aid and screening of all students and staff who become ill or injured, evaluations and proper referrals, and maintaining comprehensive health records and usual programs of screening; e.g. vision, hearing, and growth.Performs nursing tasks in accordance with the Missouri Nursing Practice Act and in a conscientious, safe manner.Administer, record, and store student medications at school according to School Board policies.Reviews student immunization records for compliance with state law; refers for follow-up when needed.Maintains confidentiality of student and employee health information. Maintain a daily log of all students seen in the health room.Maintain health room supplies and equipment, seeing that expired medications are replaced and discarded per protocol.Make time available for conferences with teachers, parents and groups in interpretation and follow-up. Participate on teams to develop 504 plans and IEPs, as needed, for individual students.Organizes and oversees operations of community health supports at building level (i.e Flu Vaccine clinics).Create and distribute health plans and emergency action plans for students needing possible emergency intervention and/or special health care procedures.Work with counselors in referrals that have physical and mental aspects.Engage in health counseling or teaching-an important function of school nursing service.Work with the building principal, counselor, teacher and social services representative in the identification and reporting of possible child abuse and neglect.Ability to work independently, excellent communication and organizational skills.Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties listed above. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Graduation from an appropriately accredited school of nursing, current nurse (RN or LPN) licensure in the State of Missouri.Minimum three years work experience as a nurse in a patient care setting; experience as a pediatric or school nurse preferred.
