Job Description:

SUMMARY

Providessupervision to student dental hygienists during client care in the DentalHygiene Clinic. Assesses dental health status of dental clients.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

  • Provides supervision to dental hygiene students during client care in the Dental Hygiene Clinic
  • Performs medical/dental assessment of dental hygiene clients
  • Authorizes dental hygiene students to treat clients
  • Properly manages any dental or medical emergencies
  • Interprets radiographs and conducts radiographic and pharmacological consultation with students
  • Authorizes dental sealants, places temporary restorations, checks emergency equipment, and consults with clinical coordinator when appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) or DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery)
  • Ohio license to practice dentistry
  • Minimum of five years of professional demonstrated related experience
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to travel to all clinical affiliates
