Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll Clerk will be primarily responsible for compiling and recording employee time and compiling and processing payroll and assist in accurately managing the daily benefits processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. This position will also cross train and provide back up for Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist in the preparation and the process of payroll data while reviewing and ensuring accuracy of approved time sheets.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Assist in the compiling and input payroll data such as direct deposits, lien and wage garnishments, taxes, commissions, referral payments, bonuses, paid time off, insurance, 401K deductions, HSA deductions, COBRA, and other special payroll deductions.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end preparation and activities.
  • Reconciling payroll accounts and preparing payroll GL reporting.
  • Coordinate annual W-2 preparation, reconciliation, and distribution.
  • Respond to auditing and regulatory inquires as it relates to payroll audit and compliance by providing information and documentation for audit requests.
  • Process manual checks such as terminations, discrepancies, as needed.
  • Administer the timekeeping system and review time clock information for completeness and accuracy and contact department supervisors for any missed times.
  • Assist in the compile internal management reports from payroll system software and perform detailed payroll and benefits analysis as requested.
  • Establish and maintain employee payroll records to ensure that employee changes are entered accurately and made on a timely basis and review changes for proper authorization and adherence to policies and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Reconcile benefit bills.
  • Assist in the transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required filings.
  • Provide technical assistance in creating google docs and Excel spreadsheets.
  • All other duties as assigned to assist with payroll, finance and HR.
Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Payroll experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Excel and/or Google Docs
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates. Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to gain the knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations and filing and compliance requirements.


Salary Description

$20 - $22 DOE
