Athletics Development Director

The Athletics Development Director serves as a key representative of the University of Miami Athletics with potential and existing donors who can support the department's mission. The Director will focus on securing donations by developing relationships with designated prospects and athletic constituents. They will also help coordinate fundraising strategy for both major giving platforms and leadership positions while assisting the Associate Athletic Director with fundraising projects as required.
- Develop, build, solicit, and manage a portfolio of 100-125 major giving prospects, moving them through the giving process with an emphasis on initiating new prospects.
- Conduct 75+ significant interactions and 25+ major gift solicitations per year.
- Ensure the proper recording of prospect strategies, actions, stages, and proposals in the IBIS Software.
- Assist with the coordination of research of potential donors and the development of the fundraising plan for capital campaigns.
- Write solicitation proposals and acknowledgment letters as well as contributing to fundraising material.
- Manage fundraising strategy in coordination with the Associate AD for Development to maximize the pipeline's donation revenue and major gift efficiency.
- Identify and research funding sources from alumni, season ticket holders, and guests of special events.
- Assist in the development of a comprehensive communications strategy to support the overall fundraising process.
- Work with the University Development Office.
- Research and solicit planned and deferred gifts.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Advancement or designee.
- Maintain compliance with all NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, University of Miami and departmental policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least three years of development experience; athletic experience preferred. Relevant certificates, training, or work experience may be considered.
- Require superb oral and written skills; must possess a high level of organization, creativity, energy, and assertiveness while demonstrating independent judgment and personal integrity.
- A positive and constructive attitude to colleagues and the ability to work in a team environment is essential.
