Responsibilities and Duties

  • Following the physician around in clinic and documenting the entire physician-patient encounter using an electronic health record (EHR). This requires speedy typing skills, good computer navigation skills, and having to stand for most of the day. This is high-demand and interactive, but also a great learning experience
  • Professional communication with the doctors and other office staff.
  • Learning medical terminology.
  • Helping the medical assistants when necessary.
  • Timely responses to messages and tasks sent by other staff.
  • Department tasks such as faxing, scanning, mailing letters, and working through reports.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be able to type AT LEAST 50 wpm.
  • Must have good grammar and spelling skills.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • High School Diploma/GED with some college.
