Job Duties Performance of Sonographic Imaging and Film Processing.

Ensures patient is properly prepped. Correctly positions patient providing maximum comfort to obtain images. Selects appropriate transducer and imaging mode for procedure. Properly annotates required information on films meeting ACR standards. Properly processes films and evaluates for quality and completeness. Knows and obtains standard views according to protocol. Consults with Radiologist prior to patient dismissal. Supplies preliminary report as directed. Ultrasound Guided Invasive Procedures

Coordinates workflow schedule with Radiologist and Nurse. Ensures patient 's chart is on hand and consent signed for ultrasound studies requiring consent. Properly sets up trays, supplies and equipment. Provides proper sterility of equipment, self and others participating in exam. Positions patient; selects correct transducer and technical factors. Work area assignments and patient interaction

Reviews patient schedule, planning for in-patients and add-ons. Continually monitors requests at reception desk; evaluates for accuracy and appropriateness. Routinely checks patient ID prior to procedure. Provides adequate exam explanations to patient and/or significant other. Provides care based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective. Monitors patient condition during procedure, initiates life-support measures when necessary. Ensures proper dismissal of patient. Utilizes appropriate measures when transporting patients. Other Duties as Assigned Maintaining a log of completed procedures, performing QA, and responsible for ensuring properly cleaned equipment. Trouble shoots equipment failures, documents and ensures service is notified. Interaction with radiologists and referring physicians. Performs duties with independence and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Education

Graduate of an Accredited Medical Ultrasonography program is preferred but not required.

Licensure/Certification Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, (ARDMS) Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible.(Registry eligible must become certified within twelve (12) months of employment.) Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire. Experience/Knowledge

Two years' experience as a registered sonographer is preferred. Mid-Shift for ED
