POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Resource Nurse has a multifaceted role within the Quality Management Department incorporating the components of clinical practice, consultation, education, research, and current regulatory standards into the care of the organization's patient populations. The Clinical Resource Nurse collects and analyzes clinical and operational information for use in case/quality/policy/risk and organizational management initiatives. Conducts formal and informal education for staff regarding policies and procedures, quality and risk management. Acts as an advisor on demonstrating compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Resource Nurse assists in developing and managing projects and programs that help maintain compliance with regulatory standards, evidence based practice and quality of care for the patients of Enloe Medical Center. Assists with functions of Quality Management in regulatory data management, regulatory readiness, survey preparation, performance improvement, policy/procedure development and other quality initiatives as assigned. The Clinical Resource Nurse contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and the Quality Management Department.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
* Five years clinical nursing experience

Desired:
* Previous experience in a quality management department
* Three years hospital or health care setting experience in quality or risk management
* Recent experience and/or service on organizational committees
* Bachelors Degree in Nursing

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
* Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must work effectively with a wide variety of other professionals, with tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Must demonstrate leadership and teaching ability, and have skills necessary to manage large work volume. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Working knowledge of standing organizational committees. Demonstrates skills in complex problem solving. Demonstrates and understands collection and analysis of data along with statistical process control methods. Applies gathered data to improve and/or facilitate revisions of current policies to better practice and maintain organizational compliance. Assures process, policy, and pre-printed order changes are communicated to the organization. Demonstrates evidence of strong skills in confidentiality, integrity, creativity, and initiative. Demonstrates ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals; handles complex and confidential- situations and information. Works with Policy Coordinator and multiple committees, physicians and Pharmacists to assure pre-printed orders, standardized procedures, general procedures and policies are reviewed and maintained according to regulations/laws and reflect organizational standards of practice. Proficient in the use of multiple computer software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Intranet and Internet access and use. Proficient in the use of multiple computer applications utilized within the organization, such as: Electronic Med Record System, Chartmaxx, Document Management System, MCN, Mosby's and Midas. Knowledge of standards of Nursing Practice, Title 22, JC regulations, and CMS regulations, accreditation and external agency requirements, and organizational reporting requirements. Demonstrates and understands collection and analysis of data and statistical process control methods. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
