SUMMARYThe Pediatric Endocrinologist is primarily responsible to provide clinical care for children and young adult patients with endocrine disorders, including both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, growth and pubertal disorders, and disorders of sexual development among others. The Pediatric Endocrinologist will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide the high quality care to include providing evaluation and treatment plan specific to the needs of each patient.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES* Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage many disorders in children who have metabolic or growth disorders.* Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage children who have type one diabetes, growth disorders, hypoglycemia, and other disorders relating to the adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary glands.* Thoroughly evaluates and manages each patient appropriately and documents information completely and on a timely basis.* Identifies relevant medical issues accurately and uses appropriate procedures and testing* Completes and maintains problem list, medication list, disease management forms, preventative maintenance flow sheets and other medical record forms* Documenting assessment findings, treatment recommendations and plan for continuing care in the clinical record.* Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, other agency providers, clinical support staff, administrative staff and community resources in meeting patient and family needs.* Provide health promotion, education and counseling for patient/families related to medication, diagnosis, health issues and coping strategies.* Management of inter-disciplinary team issues that affect clinical care of patients.* Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.* Participate in the identification and implementation of opportunities to enhance patient and family satisfaction.* Participate in efforts to ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and other applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.* May participate in peer review and quality assurance.* Perform other duties as assigned.* Academic appointments may be available with the University of Connecticut.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED* Graduate from accredited school of medicine required* MD or DO Degree* 2 or more years of experience preferredLICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED* Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of CT and must be maintained thereafter* DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter* Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics with specialty certification in pediatric Endocrinology
