Caton Construction Group, one of The Caton Companies, is seeking an experienced CARPENTER FOREMAN who will be responsible for coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans, producing schedules, and monitoring attendance of crew, allocating general and daily responsibilities. THIS JOB POSTING IS FOR OUR CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA BRIDGE PROJECT. Pay is negotiable and based on experience. Summary/Objective The site foreman (also sometimes known as construction foreman) is a key member of the contractor team, responsible for organizing construction works onsite. The foreman performs a pivotal role in the success of a project and is an experienced construction worker. Your Responsibilities • Coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans. • Producing schedules and monitor attendance of crew. • Allocating general and daily responsibilities. • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans. • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew. • Allocate general and daily responsibilities. • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople. • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate. • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met. • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment. • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget. • Resolve problems when they arise. • Report on progress to managers, engineers etc. Supervisory Responsibility Assigning work to subordinates, as well as establishing deadlines and modifying work schedules to meet deadlines as needed. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 7-5:30 (M-Th) and 7-3:30 (Fri) 48 hours per week. This position frequently requires long hours and occasional weekend work. Travel/ Driving Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Driver’s license is required. Required Education and Experience • High school diploma or equivalent. • Proven experience as construction foreman • diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.) a plus. Preferred Education and Experience • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSH guidelines Salary depends on skills and experience.
