Summary

The Energy Authority’s Data Dynamics group is looking for motivated interns who are interested to learn how data analytics is applied in the utility sector and who enjoy learning in a collaborative environment. The Data Dynamics intern will provide support to the Data Engineering team within the Data Dynamics group. This position will provide the intern with opportunities to enhance technical, presentation and interpersonal skills. This position is for an initial 1-year term with an option to extend as skills match need.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assist in the preparation of clean time-series data sets for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) analysis
• Assist in the development of clean data-sets for analysis including Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meta-data, buildings data, and other category or time-series data.
• Support the development of data pipelines using SQL, Python and R
• Learn the ETL process and support issue identification and resolution
• Prepare necessary visualizations to support the Data Engineering team reporting to clients
• Develop PowerPoint presentations to support the Data Engineering team presentation to clients
• Attend necessary training including R, Azure fundamentals, TEA onboarding
• As time permits, become familiar with the Public Power Sector and the fundamental nature of AMI operations.
• As time permits, become familiar with TEA’s organization – front, middle, and back office - and functions.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

A student actively enrolled at an accredited university, a 3.0 cumulative GPA (or better) in major field of study, and demonstrated proficiency in analytical studies. Preferred areas of study: Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics.

Technical Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of one or more of the following analytical languages/tools: R, Python, Java, SQL
