In addition to our many benefits and perks, UAB Medicine provides a variety of resources to support employees both personally and professionally.To provide professional ambulatory nursing care to adult patients with hematologic and oncologic diseases. To demonstrate specialized oncology/chemotherapy knowledge and skills gained through formal education and several years of training. To deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating. To coordinate activities of other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care. Position Requirements: Preferred Skills: Oncology or Gynecology experience is preferred; OCN certification preferred. Must be a team player; hard working; and must be able to multi-task. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree in Nursing and two (2) years of nursing experience required. BSN preferred. Work experience may not substitute for education requirement.LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification required or must be obtained within eighteen (18) months of employment. For areas other than Radiation Oncology, BMTC (Bone Marrow Transplant Certification) or OCN certification required or must be obtained within eighteen (18) months of employment.TRAITS & SKILLS:Must be self-directed / self-motivated; must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
