Job DescriptionJob Title: Monitor TechnicianJob Summary: 6a-6p-Day & Every Other Weekend Rotation-The Monitor Tech monitors patients EKG rhythm patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in rhythms. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.ResponsibilitiesJob Function:Interpretation & Reporting of Cardiac MonitoringAccurately interprets cardiac rhythms and records monitor strips on the cardiac monitoring form on all telemetry patients every 8 hours and as needed.Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the nurse.Recognizes interference and artifact and is able to troubleshoot and correct problems.Recognizes limitations in cardiac interpretation and seeks consultation when appropriate.Responsible for dispensing and retrieving telemetry transmitter.QualityDemonstrates good knowledge regarding medical terminology.Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs. Attends an annual EKG course to maintain proficiency in interpretation of EKG strips.Other Duties As AssignedPerforms other duties as assigned or requested.QualificationsExperience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure:High School or equivalentSuccessful completion of the Monitor Tech course within six monthsCommunication, Customer Service, computer skills.
