The Wilson County Health Department is looking for an enthusiastic dental provider to join our growing Dental program. We provide dental care throughout the Wilson County Schools and at our dental clinic located at the Wilson County Health Department. We serve all children regardless of ability to pay through a sliding fee program and accept all private insurances and Medicaid. This Dentist will work alongside a caring team of professionals in delivering excellent patient care and customer service to our patients at the health department dental office and our local schools using our portable clinic.

This position will work Monday through Thursday.

Hiring salary for a fully qualified candidate will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

  • Potential eligibility for a school loan payment program through the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). style="margin: 0; padding: 0; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1)">

Direct Patient Care and Treatment 90%

  1. Examines individuals requesting care and diagnosis.

  1. Prescribes and performs appropriate dental/oral treatment.

  1. Refers individuals for specialty consultations or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.

  1. Assures that patient treatment records meet regulatory guidelines and health department standards for completeness, accuracy, and privacy.

  1. Assures all paperwork related to referrals, data collection, or other records are documented and available for reference.

  1. Educates individuals regarding oral health related conditions and general promotion of oral health disease prevention.

  1. Assists with the integration and coordination of the WASH (Wilson Area School Health) dental program with Wilson County Schools and other health department programs and services.

  1. Encourages clinical teamwork and efficiency by promoting the training of dental auxiliary staff in use of NC Board of Dentistry accepted expanded duties and use of expanded duties for patient care.

  1. Educates and assists students that rotate through the dental clinic to ensure an adequate learning experience.

  1. Provide comprehensive dental treatment to patients based on a sliding fee scale without regard for ability to pay.

Administrative Duties 10%

  1. Responsible for ensuring all treatment and procedures performed in the dental clinic follow all applicable federal, state, local, health department and NC board of Dentistry rules.

  1. Participates in short and long-term planning of goals and objectives for the dental clinic.

  1. Participates in community outreach

  1. Maintains current license and CEU as required by NC board of Dentistry and health department.

  1. As directed by the health director, performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and program goals and objectives

Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry (DDS or DMD). Requires an u nrestricted license to practice dentistry in the state of North Carolina. Current CPR certification; Current DEA registration.
