Part-time adjunct clinical dental hygiene faculty is a team instructor in the dental hygiene clinic at State Fair Community College. The adjunct faculty will be assigned to instruct first and/or second year students while working with clients in the campus clinic. Participation in team instructor calibration meetings are also required. The clinical instructor shall be accountable to the Associate of Applied Science Degree Dental Hygiene Program Director of State Fair Community College.
The part-time clinical instructor shall be responsible in assisting the Program Director in:
- Meeting minimum standards.
- Ongoing planning, systematic development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical component of the DH program.
- Clinical instruction and evaluation of students.
- Maintaining student clinical records.
The instructor is also responsible for the following duties:
- Ensuring student and client confidentiality.
- Completing clinical evaluation forms for each student and discussing with student at designated intervals.
- Attending pinning/graduation.
- Attending staff meetings.
- Determining clinical grades and recording appropriately.
- Assisting with the development of clinical syllabi and orientation information.
The Instructor shall:
- Hold a current license to practice dental hygiene in Missouri.
- Bachelor's degree (associate degree applicants considered) and three years related industry experience and demonstrated record of teaching excellence preferred. Demonstrated student centeredness. Preference given to those with previous community college experience.
- Have the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time clinical practice experience within the past five (5) years.
- Have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction. Ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner. Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess an understanding of the range of needs community college students represent. Possess a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college. Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology.
