is seeking a CT Technologist to join our highly skilled imaging team at

Central Maine Medical Center
The CT Technologist performs a variety of routine and specialized CAT scan imaging procedures. Responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as one of the first line interfaces with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI Activities.
This is a per diem, position with flexible schedules and competitive hourly rates
Education and Experience:
1. Prefer 1 or more years of radiologic/imaging and/or CT Scanning experience
2. Prefer CT Scanning Certification
3. Required -Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required- and/or Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a current ARRT or NMTCB Certification in Computed Tomography
4. Current or within 1 month of hire American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BCLS certification. Re-certification of existing employees is due within 1 month of expiration date.
5. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
6. Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
7. Proficiency with CT Scanning equipment, hardware and software (GE, Siemens, Phillips, and Toshiba preferred.

Essential Duties:
1. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing examination and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
2. Demonstrates ability to position patient properly for intended body part and makes sure the order matches intended body part along with proper clinical correlation.
3. Demonstrates ability to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure -makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
4. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
5. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
6. Works under the direction of the CT Scan radiologist and medical director of Medical Imaging at all times.
7. Agrees to be on-call according to a rotating schedule.
8. Covers Holidays and Holiday call per rotational schedule
9. Completes all work competently and efficiently by the end of the shift. This includes checking with the acute care areas of the hospital prior to leaving in order to expedite patient care.
10. Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
11. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
12. Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents and deviation.
13. Interacts professionally with patient, family and staff.
14. Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturers and or CT Supervisors instruction.
15. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
16. Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
17. Knowledgeable of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
