Job Summary:
Under general supervision, operates dedicated and specialized mammography radiographic equipment; formulates/calculates techniques and positions patients to produce diagnostic images of human breast and associated tissue and related unusual changes for the use by physicians in making medical diagnoses. Within the established and/or recognized scope of practice, uses independent judgment in critiquing radiographic and mammographic images, and take additional views as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities:

Operates mammography radiographic equipment in a patient care setting for purposes of obtaining diagnostic quality screening mammography images.

Positions patients accurately, taking into consideration the sensitive nature of the exam and the patients response to compression.

Communicates clearly, effectively, and appropriately at all times.

Participates in scheduling of screening and follow-up mammography exams, breast imaging biopsy procedures, and diagnostic breast imaging procedures, which may include explaining breast imaging results to the patient as they relate to recommended additional imaging and biopsy procedures.

Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to perform or assist in performance of required mammography quality control for mammography equipment according to the requirements of the State of California and MSQA.

Observes and complies with all applicable Regional, Medical Center and Departmental policies and procedures.

Observes and complies with all HIPAA requirements and regulations.

Exercises clinical judgment within scope of practice.

Technologist must meet continuing education and continuing experience requirements of the ARRT, CRT, MQSA and the State of California.

May perform other duties as required and assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Minimum six (6) months recent experience (within the last 12 months) as a Radiologic Technologist.

Certified Radiologic Technologist - Mammography Certificate (California)

Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

N/A

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year recent experience (within the last 12 months) as a Mammography Technologist and one (1) year experience in analog breast imaging.

Valid and current Registration as a Mammography Radiologic Technologist issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-M)

Notes:

Work days/schedule will vary to include evenings and weekends.

Will work at all current and future San Bernardino service area locations.
