Essential Functions:

Performs venipuncture/blood draws as needed to assist phlebotomist.
Prepares blood samples for laboratory testing
Order entry in Athena and Labdaq computer for laboratory testing.
Adhere to Laboratory quality control policies: documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
May require processing and recording of quality controls values for all laboratory machines.
Maintain equipment and laboratory supplies.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory established performance specifications.
Maintain daily, weekly, monthly operation of assigned equipment.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or with reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of medical laboratory operations.
Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques.
Skill in understanding and following written and oral instructions.

Skills/Abilities:

Must demonstrate current lab competencies applicable for the position.
Must demonstrate knowledge of clinical practices.
Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor
Must be able to respond to stressful or emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team.
Must be able to work multiple shifts in regards to other staff when absent.

Mental/Physical/Requirements:

Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping.
Occasionally need to lift/carry 50 pounds.
Occasional stress from workload.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Successful Completion of MT( Medical Technician), MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) MLS( Medical Laboratory Scientist)

Required State of TN License, ASCP or AMT Optional
