The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing and correlating clinical laboratory tests to assist physician diagnosis and treatment. The technician follows laboratory policies and procedures in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements (CAP, JCAHO, AABB, OSHA, CLIA). The technician determines that test results meet requirements of the quality control program and if not met, repeats test and ensures results are approved for reporting, following department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation. The technician is expected to utilize critical thinking skills in problem identification, and in consultation with medical technologists and supervisors, aid in the resolution of clinical and instrument problems.RequirementsAssociates Degree from a college or university.Registered, or registry eligible for, MLT (ASCP) or equivalent. Must take ASCP exam within six months of hire date and obtain registry within six (12) months of hire date.Microbiology experience preferred.Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression.Ability and willingness to work with patients of all ages and development levels.Ability to manage a challenging work environment related to a variety of stat and routine testing requests, testing and or instrument problems, and constant need to prioritize duties.Effective December 6, 2021, North Canyon Medical Center is requiring Covid-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.
