ResponsibilitiesAre you ready to challenge the expected to deliver the extraordinary?A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Supervisor and clinical direction of the pulmonary physicians who are diplomats of the ABSM. The technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This includes polysomnography, diagnostic, therapeutic services, and education. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of professional and courteous patient care. Has the ability to complete administrative tasks as well as technical duties. Will know established policies and procedures and be willing and able to assist in development and/ or modification.The Journeys and Adventures that Await* Gather & review patient information -histories, medications, procedure request and study protocol* Explain procedures and orient patient to sleep lab* Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary* Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting* Follow procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc. to ensure collection of appropriate data* Follow 'lights out' procedures to establish and document baseline values* Perform polysomnographic data acquisition* Document routine observations* Implement appropriate interventions* Follow 'lights on' procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process* Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events* Generate accurate reports* Comply with applicable laws, regulations & guidelines* Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluations* All other duties as assignedQualificationsThe Experiences You Bring* Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program leading to an associate's degree with emphasis on polysomnography* Successful completion of an accredited polysomnographic program with emphasis on polysomnography or completion of ASTEP Program* Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required OR Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) upon hire with RPSGT obtained within 6 months of hire* BLS certification required* A minimum of 3 years experience as a Polysomnographic Technician preferred.
